Doula Services

I am a Recognised  Doula who completed her training with Nurturing Births and was also a member of Doula UK. I now work as a Midwifery assistant part time in the Postnatal ward of a busy hospital and have also worked in the Birth Centre there. I provide Antenatal and Postnatal  Services for mothers and their partners, but no longer  Birth support due to my clinical role.

So what is a Doula? The word Doule originates from Greek meaning 'caregiver'. A Doula is basically that, a person who is trained to provide practical and emotional support and information to another woman before, during and after childbirth.

So what does a Doula do? A Doula can support women and their families in a variety of ways.

Antenatal support: I will meet with the mother and her partner to provide support for their forth coming birth and to mentally and practically prepare for the birth by  talking through birth preferences or any concerns they may have.

Postnatal support: I offer practical support on baby care, safe sleeping and soothing your baby and breast feeding support.
